Positive Behaviour for Learning

PBL symbol

Inverell Public School has implemented a school-wide system that rewards positive behaviours in all school settings, called Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL).

The core values of this system are:

  • Cooperate
  • Achieve
  • Respect and
  • Excel

(CARE)

PBL at Inverell Public School is represented by a symbol based upon our iconic school swan.

Explicit lessons are taught on behaviour expectations and positive student reinforcement is received.

Appropriate classroom behaviour is rewarded through the use of verbal and non-verbal recognition and swan tickets. As these tickets accumulate, students are recognised for their achievement as they work towards achieving the level certificates - bronze, silver, gold, ruby and diamond. Students receive their awards at weekly PBL assemblies.

Appropriate playground behaviour is rewarded with CARE tickets, verbal recognition and non-verbal recognition. These tickets are used in a weekly raffle that is drawn at each PBL assembly. Students whose names are drawn in the raffle receive a small prize.
